The Zeitz MOCAA – Museum of Contemporary Art Africa – is spectacular not only with regard to its works of art. The building itself, a historic grain silo on the famous V&A Waterfront, is also a gigantic masterpiece and another landmark of Cape Town. The British architect Thomas Heatherwick had his finger in the pie when it came to architecture, and the art treasures inside are thanks to the German initiator of the museum, Jochen Zeitz. The museum sees itself above all as a platform for young and for Europeans rather unknown artists like Banele Khoza or Cyrus Kabiru. The aim of Mocaa is to show the new Africa from the perspective of young artists.
Zeitz MOCAA Food
On the 6th floor of the building there is still the Zeitz MOCAA Food, which is open from 10.00 am – 5.30 pm and from which you have a super nice view of the whole waterfront. The food is a South African comfort kitchen with grilled chicken and various tapas.
